Mom with four kids

A decade of motherhood. “Aha” moments.

“I’ve been around for a decade” …that’s what Julia said to me about her 10th birthday!

I had to sit on her phrase for a minute.

That also means I’ve been a mother for a whole decade too. I thought it would be fun to share my “AHA” moments for each year. Here goes…

Year 1

Babies poop. 😆 and diapers leak. I learned that onesies have those special slits by the shoulders so you can slide them down to avoid getting poop on baby’s hair. 👍🏼

Year 2

My picky eater will try food if you pretend she’s a bird and give it with chopsticks. 🥢(I can’t guarantee she’ll like it but she may try).

Year 3

Potty training is a mind game and the ultimate test of your patience 😳. It’s one thing if you’re ready, it’s another thing if they are.

Year 4

Have tissues in the car. Sending them off to kindergarten will have you shedding a tear with pride or have you bawling because you know you have to let go.

Year 5

Electronic devices can grapple their attention but an engaged game like hide and seek with mom or a basketball game with dad will beat it.

Basketball with daddy.

Year 6

Use your calendars and alerts on your phone! Kids activities, play dates and special school days they are plenty …oh man I made a mistake of sending one of my kids to school in normal clothes on Pyjama Day… yikes…I haven’t heard the end of it. 😣

Year 7

Don’t underestimate the power of PLAY when it comes to learning. Math at the grocery store can be what you need to help them understand.

Year 8
Why does my daughter sound like me? I realized she’s imitating me…I better smarten up. 😳

Year 9

She may be getting big but she will always want to be babied. One on one dates is a special time, we learn something about each other every time.

Year 10

For sure, praying for your kid may be the only thing you can do at certain moments. I have much more to learn!!

I know there are many more I could share but I want to hear from you? Share your top “aha” moments in the comments below. Please feel free to share this with a friend who would enjoy it.

P.S. Ten Pin bowling is the party for Julia’s 10th birthday. Her invitation design is now available for you. Here’s how it turned out if you ever need it. 🙂
